replanting to native
This project, which was started in 2006, is the replanting to Native of an acreage in southeastern Manitoba, Canada. The 5 acre site — which is in the northern range of the Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem — is in The Rural Municipality of Morris, approximately 14 km north of the Town of Morris.
In 2015 the Province of Manitoba declared the Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem endangered.
The project website documents the transformation (including the hurdles) and presents images of and information on the Tallgrass Prairie flora being planted and the fauna it attracts. And, occasionally we blog about the task at hand and things we’ve learned having taken it up.
